HISTORIC REHABILITATION
Special care and expertise must be applied to the rehabilitation of historic structures when encountering antiquated and potentially hazardous building materials and bringing the structure up to current building standards without compromising its integrity. LaRosa has successfully completed projects where either the building was listed on State and/or National Historic Registers, or the project was within a historic district.

Canterbury Gardens
New Haven, CT
This project consisted of the energy-efficient renovation of a three-building, 34-unit multifamily townhouse complex, originally built in the 1970s. The renovated complex includes 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom affordable apartments for families and individuals, including nine supportive units. This CHFA-funded project also included extensive sitework, infrastructure improvements and hazardous material abatement.
Without access to occupied units during the design phase or as-built drawings for the existing structures, this project required close coordination and innovative solutions in order to keep the project within budget. The success of the project was a true collaborative effort of many individuals, organizations and agencies from around the State.
