The Rockview Phase II project was awarded first place in the Large Multi-Family/Mixed-Use/Large category by the Connecticut Building Congress.
The Connecticut Building Congress, “recognizes outstanding building projects that exemplify project team excellence and represent the best practices in teamwork by project owners, architects, engineers, constructors, and trades. Each year, CBC recognizes projects whose team members have met or surpassed goals and achieved higher project quality through this close collaboration.”
19 awards were presented at the June 14th Project Team Awards Banquet at The Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. Rockview Phase II was the only project that won an award in the Mixed-Use/Large category.
“This CBC award is a testament to the power of teamwork and the critical importance of collaboration between the owner, architect and the contractor,” explained James LaRosa, CEO of LaRosa Groups. “The challenges were great, but the rewards were greater."
Formerly a 1950s rundown low-income housing complex, the Rockview Phase II project was re-developed into a quality mixed-income rental property with 62 affordable and 16 market-rate units in the northwest corner of New Haven. Despite the unexpected challenges of the pandemic, this project came in on budget with minimal delay, was 100 percent occupied at conversion, and earned Energy Star v3.1 certification and the Indoor airPLUS label on all the residential units.
“It was a proud moment for me as the Project Manager, as for all on the project team,” explained Kyma Ganzer, Pre-Construction Manager, LaRosa Groups. “It’s so rewarding for our efforts to be acknowledged publicly by the CBC and for the entire team – including the project owner, architect, engineers, tradespeople, suppliers and service providers - to receive the formal accolade we deserve.”
